With a strong team that provides support and tutoring, Wavlink can be proud of the programs that have evolved and continue to grow. There are many instances of strong team leadership that are too numerous to mention and it would be unfair to select some above others. What is evident however, is the support that has been developed allowing any team member to call on another to inspire, fill in the gaps, or help out with unexpected situations.
From woodworking, art, sewing, cooking, gardening, computers and literacy, the diversity of skills is part of the personalised development that staff and tutors provide to help our participants grow to be confident in the greater community.
Wavlink is supported by the Monash Volunteer Resource Centre where Gloria Mahoney and the team source a high standard of volunteers that are able to contribute positively to help enrich our community members.
There is so much that can be said about the participants of Wavlink, their aims and ambitions and their zest for life. They come from all walks of life and have a wide range of reasons for attending. When you see the garden tended with such care and creative pursuits emerging you can see the satisfaction on people faces. When you hear the karaoke singing on disco night and see the carefree and happy dacing you know there is a sense of joy and freedom.
